Choosing An Inline Skate

Inline skating or " Rollerblading " is one great way of staying fit and healthy these days. "Rollerbading" a term most often misused, the correct term would be Inline Skating . Rollerblade is a brand of inline skates or I would say the inventor of inline skates. Quite the similar case of Colgate and toothpaste.

Here's some interesting fact's about Inline Skating :

• Low-impact exercise for joints ( Knee's especially )
• High caloric burn
• Aerobically as good as jogging or cycling
• Involves all the major muscle groups
• Mentally uplifting
• Most importantly fun

A brief history of inline skating in Malaysia it started some where in the early 90's . First pairs of skates that hit the racks were brands like Rollerblades , Ultra Wheels and K2. Only kids and teenagers where skating at that time.

Today we see parents, adults , teenagers and kids skating. People are seeing it as new healthy way to fit , not as an extreme sport. Families do it as way to have good quality time together.

For a beginner learning how to skate would be the first goal to achieve. A decent pair can cost about RM 599.00 - RM 700.00 . Here's a pair I highly recommend to anyone out there learning how to skate.

The K2 Exo 2010 , Its a very good skate to learn skating with and don't forget to wear protective gear when skating. There are a few inline skating disciplines which are Speed Skating , Aggressive Skating , Slalom and my most favorite Inline Hockey .

I love to skate, If people out there go jogging every evening mine is skating softer to the knees . It gives me a good workout rather than hitting the gym and most importantly I have fun while at it.
